In 1987, during a US Open match, American tennis player Chris Evert lost a bracelet she was wearing. The bracelet slipped off Evert’s wrist due to a defect in the clasp that opened during the match. Since then, this type of bracelet consisting of a single row of round stones took the name tennis bracelets.
